Creating Home: Cozy Classic
You know those tough moments when you catch yourself saying, “I just want to be home?”. That feeling was at the heart of this design. Our clients wanted their home to feel like a retreat—a place to relax, recharge, and enjoy life as a family. They were going through a rough time and were ready to turn their cookie-cutter house into something that really felt like them. So, we brought that vision to life on the main level—with a few thoughtful touches and one fun surprise!
Create a Beverage Area
Separating the drink station allowed us to gain more countertop space in the kitchen. The fold-back cabinet allowed for coffee and toasters to be plugged in and hidden away after using. We also added a wine storage cabinet in the base for when breakfast turns bar after the kids go to bed!
Add texture
We wanted this design to maintain a classic yet modern feel. Turned legs with a cookbook shelf anchor the island. The perimeter cabinets soft colors fade into the background with pops of texture—reeded glass, double shaker doors, plaster hood.
Use an unexpected material
A traditional cast-iron farmhouse sink is cute, but this one what if we do it in a different material? When we designed the kitchen we wanted to through in some surprises like taking the countertop down the front of the sink.
Customize Storage for you
Everyone has unique needs, so it only makes sense to design your cabinets to meet those needs. They wanted their daughter to easily access to her toys during the day while also having space to store their record collection. We incorporated metal mesh to the front of the cabinets so the speakers can hide discreetly while still playing music!
End with a surprise
A whisky lounge? Why not!? We took the light and bright upstairs and brought the dark and moody vibes into the basement. Plaid carpet, gold accents and a bar behind a glass door makes the perfect hosting venue for friends and family. Adding an unexpected element of design adds personality into your home and makes it unique!
